i told The Boy to go get his shoes and socks on. i had to contain my giggles when he came out in navy socks that are 2 different lengths.

fourth of july craft
this is one of the easiest crafts i have done in a long time, it was super quick, i finished it and hung it in about 45 minutes. i cut one triangle to a size i liked and used it as a pattern for all the rest. then just stitched them all together, added 2 ribbons for hanging and Viola!
the red check fabric is an apron from the dollar tree that i cut up, 2 actually, the dark blue is something i have had in my stash for a while and the blue stripe is my man's old shirt which i snagged last month when i noticed the collar and cuffs all frayed.
a fun and festive touch to my front porch id say.

(insert witty title here)
in my every day sewing projects i do not normally measure very accurately or pin every piece or even iron very thoroughly. its a whole different game with a vintage table cloth, i mark, i iron, i measure and i definitely pin. i only get one shot on these old girls, i want to make sure i know what im doing. still, when i make the first cut, i get a mini panic attack, what if i didnt measure right!!!! oh well, too late now. and its over and i finish my cut.
and then theres dinner, i was craving a burger with tomato, onion and mayo...uh, yum!
so i made these DELICIOUS turkey burgers:
1 lb ground turkey
1 half an onion, diced
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 egg
2 tsp garlic powder
1/3 cup of Goldfish crumbs ( the cracker, not a real fish)
mix er up and let it sit for about 10 minutes before you make patties and throw em on the grill.
they are so good!!
of course we rarely fire up the grill without tossing some dogs on for good measure.

dang it!
i missed a day. but not without good reason, there was a HUGE storm and ..no joke...lightning hit a transformer (or whatever) and knocked out power for a couple hours. lucky for us, i had unplugged our computer and modem, ya know, just in case. so no damage, but i then couldnt figure out which wires to re connect where, hence, i couldnt blog.
aside form the crazy storm not much went on yesterday anyway.
really, not too much today either, we did go to the pool after work. last year, the pool was free after 5 this year, not so. (sad face)
i paid, but dont think we will be going to the pool after work very often, i will save that for my day off when D is well rested and we get to spend more than an hour there.

do you think?
im going to try...really, really try to make a post a day for the next week....think i can do it?
this means im going to have to dust off my camera...seriously...there was dust on it when i went to use it yesterday.
thats not good, that means in not recording life.
oh, p.s. this is my post for today, i will break out the camera again tomorrow, we are going swimming, and having friends over, attractive friends with equally if not more attractive kids, so come back, say sunday afternoon for the shot by shot of the BBQ.

still here!!!
its finally done!! i started this diaper wallet about 4 months ago, then got discouraged because i was having trouble binding one of the pockets, then buried it and forgot about it, then decided that it just couldnt become a complete waste of the fabric i had used and decided that it must be finished. so it is now finished.
i also whipped up a little changing pad, which i had promised marci i would bring the next time i came, since im going in 2 weeks i figured i better get cracking, a couple more shouldnt take me too long.
the fabric for the diaper wallet is all new, except for the plaid trim which i salvaged from a skirt that i had shortened. the holly hobbie fabric was leftover from a pair of PJs my mom made me when i was 4. i love the buttons which were an after thought, theyre covering up my raggedy stitching where i attatched elastic as a closure.
and marci came up with the idea of adding the key ring so you can attatch it with a clip to your purse or stroller, smart gal, thats why i love her.
so this is how i spent my all-day crafting marathon, doesnt seem like much but between the times i had to stop to find stuff, and time to stop and run to wal-mart, it took up a good portion of my day.

what i can see from here
i can see my big fat cat sitting at the screen door
i can see one white rocker and a corner of a blue plaid table cloth
i can see one little leg and one little arm sticking out from under the piano bench
i can see a guitar
i can see 2 books that belong to the winners of my giveaway
i can see the cityscape oil painting that belonged to my mom and dad
my i pod, an empty spiderman fruit snacks bag, my husband's sermon notes, 2 pairs of shoes:one little, one not so little, my coupon organizer, a curious george book and my sewing machine.
what can you see?
