girl scout cookies? yes, please

mmmmm, cookies....

but seriously, what do they make these with, i am generally not someone who will sit down and eat a whole box of cookies, but these lemon chalet cremes....if you havent tried them yet, dont it will only make you want more, and if you have boxes that you need to get out of the house...send them this way.

no, no, i dont want to!!

hmm, sound familiar? if you have little ones you have most likely heard that phrase, at least once.

in this case, that is me i am disobedient child being made to do something i dont want to do.

since im sure youre dying to know what it is im being forced into...it is ...
being nice to people all the time, and not...ahhh...to use so much sarcasm*huff*

i got convicted yesterday when i got an email from a friend, whose blog i commented on, the comment was meant as a poke in the ribs kinda joke and from her e mail, it sounded  like i had offended her. the idea that maybe i had offended her weighed heavily on me last night and this morning and i wrote her an apology to which she responded that she wasnt offended. whew! but it occurred to me that whether she was offended or not wasnt the issue. as Christians we are suppose to lift each other up and support one another, poking my friends in the ribs fulfills the criteria of neither of those. now im not saying i should only be serious and  i should write sappy comments to all my friends but i should think before i hit publish comment.

God showed me by this exchange with my friend that there were some bad bits inside that needed to get broken off. starting now i will let God work with me on becoming more humble, even though i think it will be uncomfortable for me and i will be more considerate of whom i make the butt of my joke.

if you have a boring weekend ahead, let me suggest...

i enjoyed this book yesterday, i started it wednesday night and just could not put it down. it is an autobiography of the most famous swimming actress of the golden age of cinema.

Esther shares with readers the family tragedy that made her the persistant hard worker that she was, her thriftiness, her failed relationships with men and all the outrageous stunts she agreed to to "get the shot". along the way she rubs albows with all the big names, clark gable, joan crawford, grace kelley, etc. she tells what kind of hair and makeup adjustments were required for being in the water for hours upon hours and what it was like being a sometimes pawn in louis b. mayers studio system politics.

there is a photo spread in the middle of the book, this is always my favorite part of any biography i always go there first so i can see what the people i will be reading about looked like.

there is some strong language and  (not TOO graphic) talk of male genitalia which it seems big name actors with big egos loved to show off to anyone who would look at a time when hollywood stars could do anything they wanted with minimal repercussions.

so true

The Bloggers Prayer

Lord help me to learn to spell without spellcheck, manage to visit all that visit me, and post regularly - all in 5 minutes a day, so that I can clean house and take care of my family. Help me to not look at every occurrence in my life as a blog post, and to quit taking pictures of weird things to share as well. Please Lord, help me to stop talking about my blog friends as though they are next door neighbors or someone I have known all of my life. And help me dear Lord, to think of something witty and wise to post tomorrow.

thanks, kelly for this little crumb of humor.

the visit

i went over to Christian Academy of Madison yesterday at lunch to pick up an application and i was very encouraged.

i met and got to talk to the teacher, she had a few minutes since the kids were in music class, she showed me some of their penmanship papers, discussed classroom procedures and expectations of students. at the end of the year the kids will know at least 14 letters by recognition and the sound they make and recognize #s up to 20.
in addition to letters and #s they will have music time, art time, PE ,bible learning and memory verses. and for kindergarten 4 and 5  free play time and rest time.
the class room while a little busy was not cluttered with too many supplies or too many books and toys. the teacher was energetic and a firm leader.
now the only question is whether they will accept D since he is past the indiana birth cut off date of august 1. i did see however on the paperwork they gave me that if you live in KY where the date is oct 1 they will abide by that, so hopefully (cross your fingers) it wont be a problem even though we dont live in KY.

closer.

i got a tip from the babysitter about christian academy of madison! yay, they have a K-4 class which is a little more academically focused than "pre school" and! they allow some early admissions, if the kid is ready and! it is an all day program for an affordable price. im really excited about this, im going to get an application tomorrow at lunch.

thanks for your moral support, my friends (and family) youre so encouraging.

how to pick it.

why does picking a pre school have to be so hard? there are so many practical things to consider.

schedules: none seem to work well with ours, 8-10:30 tuesday and thursday just seems like a joke.
cost: i know they have to charge us something, but i still have to pay the babysitter too!
age: he is 30 days past the birthday cut off and will no doubt be the oldest kid in class. this may seem silly but im just letting you into my brain, its a concern of mine.
and i do have a question, are all pre school class rooms cluttered and busy looking? i may be setting my expectations too high in assuming that things should be stacked and such but it seemed there was no place for my eyes to rest in the rooms i have visited.
i want your: stories, advice and tips for picking a preschool.  help me, im begging you! i have never done this before!

i havent made lasagna in over a year, its so messy and time consuming to make, so i had to consult my cook book.
everyone likes to be in the kitchen while moms cookin.

2 weeks later

heres my sunday school project that i showed you a couple of weeks ago, today we go to walmart and get some dirt to plant this in before it gets strangled to death in the little cup. i may have to make a trip to good will and see if i can find a nice pot for my beans, otherwise they may end up in an old bucket just as well i guess, i am crossing my fingers to be able to put these outside when the weather gets nice.

in other news, i have heard our high for today may get up to 36! yay! maybe this snow can start melting.
