my thirsty plants

three days in a row now i have been duped by the powers that be into thinking it was going to rain. there were big thick grey clouds in the sky and i swear i could even see rain far far off in the distance yesterday afternoon. my plants have been asking for water for three days but i didnt water, i knew it was going to rain, but it never did so i came home for lunch today and my holly hocks are losing their holly, my braided basil plant looks half dead, the orange mint is kind of hanging in there but i know if i look around the side of the house i will be lucky to salvage my penny royal. RAIN DANG IT!!! well it probably will now that ive watered all the plants.

my little carrots

isnt this cool, ive never bought carrots with the greens atatched before, it was an impulse buy and there was urgency involved since the grower had only this one left and another lady was eyeing them. the carrots are like 3 inches long and the greens were about a foot and a half. i got to walk around the farmers market with carrot greens hanging out of my tote. it was fun.
little man got a huge kick out of them too.

my baby kitty

ok i admit he was hardly a baby. not all cats get the joys of living to the ripe old age of 15, we were informed by the vet that anything over 11 is considered senior and over 14 is the geriatric category. but he was my first baby, i fed and cleaned up after and loved him, and even when he took a backseat to my human baby and got permantly kicked out of my bed for keeping a pregnant woman from sleeping as soundly as is possible given her condition, he still knew when it was a good time to climb onto my lap and snuggle.

last week he was diagnosed with cancer, the vet said probably bone or liver cancer, i started feeding him pills that hopefully would extend his life by a month or so but they didn't. i will miss him, probably alot, but i wont miss cleaning up hairballs.

my super enviable find

i was laughed at on sunday, by a friend who shall remain nameless (rhymes with leslie) for my unbridled excitement over the ten dollar lawn chair, well check it out now! who rocks? i didnt spend another penny, the paint was in the garage already when i bought the house and the fabric is leftover from my bedroom curtains. so laugh at that!
well i hope she knows i love her anyway and its good to have friends that can take it. you know i will make her sit in it if she comes over.

my summer home

my outdoor living room has begun to  resemble my indoor living room, complete with trucks all over the floor and shoes by the door. i will say however that the sand bucket stays in the outdoor living room. and also, theres no cat hair out here.

my enviable find

check it out! ten bucks! i found it under a table in the back area of the lumber mill antique mall where they put the kind of junky stuff, the salvage, (which is where i might add i saw the pink toilet that i spoke of back in april) that area is like the buried treasure chest to those of us who love a bargain and love "customizing" our belongings. i was, in fact so thrilled about my find that i was not watching where i was walking and stubbed  my little toe on a claw foot sofa. the pain was short lived but my joy will live on as long as i have my lawn chair. so i am off now to finish the new canvas seat i have started.

my poor plants

lets all bow our heads and have a moment of silence for 6 baby trees whose live were cut short by a late spring  torrential downpour. they will be sorely missed by their 4 remaining saplings and their parent tree who's gender has not been determined.

my weekend

we started out our weekend by going to the farmers market where i was counting on some Paradise Cove Catering biscuits and gravy but they had a wedding this weekend so :( no biscuits and gravy but i got these yummy strawberries and also some snap peas and some green onions, there was also a guy there that was selling baby ducks,  so me and D took a gander (that puns for you ken).
D played with some sidewalk chalk on the driveway " mommy, i maked a seahorse!"
and i rescued these teeny little red maple shoots from certain death at Ds hands as they had rooted themselves in the little dirt patch where he likes to dig and play excavation site there were about ten baby trees total that i re planted so if you want one of my tree's babies id be glad to give you one.if they live that long in my care, i guess i better go water them.
