my second grade picture

ok so the title is a little misleading, there are no known copies of my 2nd grade picture, it was so awful that even my mom didnt keep it! so heres a picture of me at christmas in second grade, that was my favorite gift, my cabbage patch kid, Elizabeth, i still have her.

since i ribbed ms. math on her elementary school pics i thought it only fair to share mine, but i dont have any actual school pics.

mom heres where you have free reign to embarrass me. if my mom mails me a copy of the second grade picture I WILL post it cross my heart and hope to die (of embarrassment)
this pic i posted so my brother and sisters could join me in any embarrassment i might feel(and i dont want to hear any flack, because this is one of the least embarrassing pics of you, katie)im the tall one that was my favorite dress back  in 1992. and how cool am i in my converse all stars?

my pirate

the b-day party was yesterday, we all had such a good time! we had the party at 10-11am so it wasnt yet hot, didnt interfere with anyones nap and didnt take a chunk out of the guests' day like a 2pm party sometimes does. it was an outdoor affair which meant minimal cleanup and no personal property damaged. goodie bags with an eye patch, a bandana a horn and the requisite candy were given out so the kids could be pirates, only 2 kids out of 4 wore the eyepatch, only one wore the bandana, and let me say that one also blew his horn for all it was worth.
we supplied pool noodles cut in half for the boys to sword fight with and also soccer balls (not much interest in those) of course the main attraction was the swingset, no structured games planned. they played for about 35 minutes or so then on to cupcakes (frostingless for less mess) and every kid's fave GOLDFISH CRACKERS!!!  then a few more minutes of play before gift time, where there were numerous trucks, tractors and construction toys opened, and the gracious birthday boy, bless his little heart, let all of his friends play with his new toys (but i dont think he realized at that point that they were actually HIS toys) then all of his sugared up playmates went home.
it was short and sweet and only one kid fell down and cried, but he was ok in the end just a couple of scratches.

my inner dork

how big of a dork am i? we walked to the playground yesterday and this is what i took, a nonfiction book thats 2 inches thick and my travel mug, well i dont like walking in the dirt and mulch around the playground equipment and i needed something to do other than just sit on the bench.

in other news it is getting a little warm for me, im not a lover of steamy over 90 weather, i detest air conditioning, it makes me feel caged in, kind of a summer version of cabin fever because if my air is on that means it is too hot to go do anything outside.

well, since blogging is just an excuse this afternoon for not doing what i ought to be doing (house work) i better go do what i ought to be doing :(

and dont forget, tomorrow is fourth friday, that means art jam in downtown madison and also FREE trolley rides. horray!

my bloggers block

well, it was bound to happen sooner or later, i have bloggers block! so here are five random facts about me.

# i know every word to Bob Dylan's like a rolling stone (odd, i know)

# i love the swings, the taller the swing set the better

# if its made from a tomato, i will not hesitate to eat as much as i can stuff down my gullett (bonus if it also has any type of cheese)

# i heart johnny depp (hes dreamy) but i cant bring myself to watch sweeny todd

# im a car trip nonstopper, i will hold it until my bladder is about to explode if i think i can get to point b without stopping , no offense to all you stoppers out there, but my way is faster, and thats the truth.

i know amanda would have found some fancy pictures in flickr to go with all these but i like for my readers to have to use their imaginations once in a while. so if it was fancy pictures you were after, TOO BAD.

my revelation

well friends, revelation doesnt always come in a vivid dream, this morning while loading laundry into the dryer i heard this coming out of Jr. Asparagus (veggie tales for those of you who are not "in the know")

the Lord has given good things to us
no need to fuss
he knows what hes doing
he says he'll always take care of us
if we will follow him.

so there you have it. words of wisdom from one of my top five favorite vegetables.

my fine line

ok, you all see my verse on the top right "make me neither rich nor poor but give me what i need for today"
this being not only a plea to God for what i need but also saying dont give me what i dont need. im having a problem  with that fine line between faith that i will have what i need and wanting  to be prepared to do the things that are right for practising christians to do (ie help the poor, pay all my bills on time, etc..) therefore wanting a surplus (which is quickly becoming a nonissue due to inflation and change in circumstances) .

is this making any sense? i need wisdom on financial matters here friends, please, pray for me.
and if you want to see what else God is doing in our lives visit kens blog, focus on the word.

chelsea and justin take on uncle richard and bubby in a game of cornhole
mimi and papa cut their birthday cake, he's 81, she's 29
"boy, stop swingin' that stick at people" no hillbilly party is complete without a trip to the hospital, lucky for us no modern hillbilly family is complete without a first responder and volunteer fire fighter.
it was a gorgeous day today out at versailles state park where aunt mae organized a barbecue picnic for mimi and papas birthdays, the menu included chicken, cheeseburgers and plenty of sweet tea. i will give you 3 guesses what i took (rhymes with zuchini bread) and aunt mae and aunt amy were wrestling over it when we left. well that may be an exaggeration but harsh words were exchanged and one told the other that i was a terrible cook in a bid to have the whole loaf to herself. ok that may also be a lie but they were both anxious to rip open that glad wrap and dig in. and thats the truth.

my paint job

my saturday was spent finishing my bathroom mini makeover. it was nothing as spectacular as the bathroom liz showed us last week, (not hers, her dream bathroom) but im happy. it all revolved around matching things up with my free shower curtain (thanks to my mom-in-law) so a splash or two of paint and some new glass things on the light fixture and now i wont be embarrassed at the boys b-day party  when im pretty sure at least one person will want to use the potty.

oh and i really would love some help with the mini (only 3 kids are invited) party we are throwing for the 3rd bday, its a pirate theme so tell me all your cheap  party throwing tips.
